ABOUT BITZ unibz fablab
BITZ unibz fablab was established back in March 2018 in the heart of Bolzano. Spanning 300 square meters, our workshop near the campus of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano is dedicated to empowering students, researchers, and curious citizens alike. Here you can explore digital production and state-of-the-art machinery to transform your designs into reality.
BITZ unibz fablab goes beyond being the digital modelling workshop of unibz. As a research infrastructure, with an emphasis on capacity building and innovative experimentation, we ideate, host and organize a spectrum of workshops and activities. We foster the growth of local maker communities by actively welcoming and supporting interested people, fostering knowledge creation and sharing. Moreover, we are forging connections with global networks within the maker culture. Together, we’re building bridges between innovation and community, one creation at a time.
We’re dedicated to cultivating and spreading the culture of making. Through curated series of activities, we merge research and education, providing both space and guidance to facilitate exploration.

Responsibility towards our Territory and Citizens.
As well as being established in teaching and research as an educational institution, unibz also has a responsibility to contribute to the cultural and economic development of South Tyrol. This has been defined as the ‘third mission’ consisting of the activities through which the University interacts with its surrounding community. The BITZ unibz fablab is a digital manufacturing laboratory and a social space for sharing and collaboration open to the public.
