3D PRINT COURSE

The 3D printing course is divided into three parts, each building on the previous to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience.

In Part 1, students are introduced to the fundamentals of 3D printing technology, including its applications and possibilities. They are also taught how to use 3D modeling software, gaining the skills to design objects suitable for printing. This phase focuses on understanding the interface and tools of the software, enabling students to translate their creative ideas into digital models.

Part 2 allows students to apply what they’ve learned by working independently on their own 3D models during class. Here, they explore different design techniques, experiment with various shapes and structures, and refine their models to prepare them for printing. Instructors provide guidance and feedback, but the focus is on hands-on practice and problem-solving.

In Part 3, students visit the fablab to pick up the physical 3D prints of their designs. This hands-on experience enables them to examine how their digital models translate into tangible objects. Afterward, they engage in discussions about the success of their prints, any challenges encountered during the process, and potential improvements to their designs. This final phase combines reflection with practical learning, reinforcing the relationship between digital modeling and physical production.

Course Procedure

Part 1:

In the first part of the course, the students and the teacher are taught how to use TINKERCAD so that they can create 3D models independently. The course can take place in the fablab or in the form of an online meeting. (2 hours)

Part 2:

The students work independently with the teacher in class or at home to create a 3D model. After completion, the 3D models are sent to the Fablab, where they are checked.

Part 3:

The students come to the fablab and collect their printed 3D models. Possible hurdles and potentials are discussed with the students and teachers. (2 hours)

COSTS

The total cost is 150€. This includes 2 session in the fablab and the consumables (PLA filament)

Number of Participant

The maximum number of participants is limited to 25 persons incl. teacher.
